Who Are We?

Super Saturday is a one-of-a-kind children’s theater festival that brings annual theatrical performances to the children of the southern North Carolina foothills. We present drama, dance, music, magic, and more, bringing the arts to all comers in a fun-filled day each spring.

Super Saturday is presented every third Saturday in March and is produced annually by the Children's Theater Festival, an all-volunteer organization in Tryon, NC with the purpose of enriching the lives of children and their families by introducing, promoting, and encouraging the lively arts in the communities centered in and around Polk County, NC.

Performance Venues

The primary focus of Super Saturday is high quality entertainment for children and families. Theater performances and activities flow throughout downtown Tryon, with each of the following venues offering a distinctive ambiance:

Tryon Movie Theatre

The Community Stage

Holy Cross Episcopal Church

Tryon First Baptist Church

Tryon Fine Arts Center

Tryon Congregational Church

Festival Activities

When families take a break from the professional stages, they head to the sights and aromas of the Festival Food Court. Here they'll find area youth organizations selling a variety of traditional festival fare to raise money for community causes. The Festival Food Court is located beside the Community Stage.

Virtually all festival attendees converge on Melrose Avenue sometime during Super Saturday!  Melrose Avenue is the heart of bustling activity with amazing street performers and kids’ activities offered free of charge throughout the day. At noon, the streets are lined with festival attendees eagerly awaiting the traditional parade with costumed children and festival performers.
